Software - Typical
user
Small practices
- Software is very affordable...and will run on about any
PC
- Software is smarter, more foolproof and structured...novice
users need this structure.
- Software is remarkably easy to learn and use
- Starting with better software eliminates
need to switch systems later on.
- Software-Plus program provides additional
support for novice users.
- In an emergency, Summit-Edge can provide "coverage"
under our standard billing program.
Mid-size practices
Larger practices
Note: The software is designed to double the
productivity of your office staff. A practice with 15-20 therapists
can easily work with the single-user version of Summit-Edge. Also,
the single-user version is faster...and does not require
expensive equipment and support. So, one should not be
too quick to seek out the network version. We encourage you to
use the single-user version as long as possible. Having said that,
a network version of the software is scheduled for release on
1/1/05.
-
Software has features that will often double
office productivity...there will be fewer calls for more personnel...and
more sophisticated equipment.
-
Insurance payments are batched under a check#,
for fast cash reconciliation.
- "Transfer" adjustments are automatic...user never
has to spend time on it.
- Family payments are auto-posted...user does not have to "apply"
(and later fix) payments.
- Family organization allows sharing of records for addresses,
policies, etc...so there is less data to enter and maintain.
- Hcfas can be configured to handle a myriad of different formats...manual
corrections are rare.
- Statements are very understandable...so billing questions
are significantly reduced
- Accounts never have to be "analyzed"...software
does the analysis for you.
-
Software has features that promote relentless
insurance followup
- Followup work center lists problem claims...shows what
has been done...and allows easy access to relevant info.
From this point, user does the followup (marks for rebilling,
etc.). With followup done, the claim drops out of the
work center. The goal, of course, is to empty the work
center.
- Reports like "Where's My Money?" draws everyone's
attention to what specifically has not been paid.
This is a big improvement over aging reports that are
overly summarized.
- The "Insurance processed" report shows the
processing for a batch of E.O.B.'s. With rejection and
payment information presented, everyone who reviews this
report is alerted to problems...deductibles, no authorization,
and on and on.
- Software has a payout system that vastly simplifies the distribution
of client fees to therapists. At the end of each pay period, simply
run the payout report...which provides the data needed for writing
checks.
-
Software is highly structured...and there is
a lot of error-checking...so, you can safely let inexperienced
workers do a lot of the data-entry. It makes management a lot
easier.
